What is chiropractic treatment?
Following a thorough history and examination, a chiropractor will use their clinical skills and expertise to determine a diagnosis and provide you with a treatment plan specific to your individual needs and goals. Chiropractors use a variety of treatment techniques. Your treatment plan may include a combination of the following common treatments:
- Chiropractic adjustment
- Joint mobilization
- Soft tissue therapy
- Exercise prescription
- Patient education and self-management strategies
- Acupuncture
- Modalities (such as ultrasound therapy, cold laser therapy, inferential current therapy)
- Nutritional counselling
Who can receive chiropractic care?
Everyone! Chiropractic care is a safe and effective treatment option for managing disorders related to the spine, muscles, joints and nerves of the body- for ALL ages, from young children to elderly adults.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. In Canada, chiropractors are legislated as primary contact healthcare professionals. Therefore, you can consult a chiropractor directly, without the need of a referral from your medical doctor.
