Celebrating a NatCan Team Achievement
We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Amita Sachdev, (RN), ND, a valued member of the NatCan Integrative Medical & Wellness Centre team, on the publication of her recent case study in Naturopathic Doctor News & Review (NDNR).
Her article, “Ketogenic Diet in Metastatic Breast Cancer: An Integrative Oncology Case Study,”explores the case of a patient with stage IV HER2-positive breast cancer who incorporated significant dietary and lifestyle changes alongside conventional cancer treatment. Dr. Sachdev examines the potential role of metabolic nutrition within integrative oncology while also addressing the evolving research, limitations and importance of individualized patient care.
The case study reflects Dr. Sachdev’s experience in naturopathic oncology and her commitment to foundational naturopathic principles, including nutrition, lifestyle and treating the whole person. Importantly, the article also emphasizes that ketogenic diets are not a universal recommendation for people with cancer and that nutritional strategies should be individualized within the context of each patient’s care.
