A Deeper, More Effective Sweat — Without the Suffocating Heat
Traditional saunas heat the air around you using steam or convection, requiring very high ambient temperatures to produce a sweat — which many people find uncomfortable or difficult to tolerate for long periods. Infrared saunas work completely differently.
Infrared light penetrates directly into your body’s tissues, heating you from the inside out rather than heating the surrounding air. This means localized heat is delivered right to the source — producing a deeper, more meaningful sweat at temperatures that feel genuinely comfortable, rather than oppressive.
The result: a more tolerable session that produces better outcomes than a traditional sauna at higher temperatures.
Infrared vs. Traditional Sauna
- Heat source: Infrared light penetrates the body directly — traditional saunas heat the air and rely on humidity
- Temperature: Infrared operates at 45–65°C vs. traditional sauna at 80–100°C — far more comfortable
- Penetration: Infrared heats tissue up to 4cm below the skin surface — traditional heat stays superficial
- Sweat quality: Infrared sweat contains more toxins and metabolic waste per unit than traditional sauna sweat
- No steam or humidity: No suffocating feeling — you can breathe normally and stay comfortably for the full session
- Caloric burn: Up to 600 calories in a 50-minute infrared session
Naturopathic Hydrotherapy Option
NatCan also offers Infrared Sauna as part of a Naturopathic Hydrotherapy program — supervised by our licensed Naturopathic Doctors (Dr. Perfetto, Dr. Sachdev, and Dr. Santos). This approach integrates the sauna into a structured naturopathic treatment plan, with an initial assessment to confirm suitability and set therapeutic goals.
A Naturopathic Hydrotherapy Infrared Sauna Assessment or Naturopathic Initial Intake is required before the first ND-supervised session. See pricing below. Packages and discounts are not available for ND-supervised sessions.

Benefits of Infrared Sauna Therapy
Infrared sauna delivers a range of well-documented physiological benefits that make it one of the most versatile and accessible wellness therapies available.
The heat from infrared sauna significantly elevates heart rate and metabolic rate — producing a cardiovascular and caloric effect comparable to moderate physical exercise. An effective complement to a weight management or fitness program.
Infrared heat causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing circulation throughout the body. Improved blood flow supports tissue healing, reduces muscle soreness, and delivers oxygen and nutrients more effectively to every organ and system.
Infrared sauna induces a deep, metabolically active sweat that releases toxins, heavy metals, and metabolic waste at concentrations higher than those produced by traditional sauna or exercise-induced sweating alone.
The elevated core body temperature produced by infrared sauna mimics a natural fever response — stimulating the immune system, increasing white blood cell production, and creating an environment that is inhospitable to pathogens.
The warmth of infrared sauna activates the parasympathetic nervous system — promoting deep relaxation, reducing cortisol levels, and leaving most clients feeling profoundly calm and restored after their session.
Infrared heat penetrates deep into muscle and connective tissue, reducing lactic acid buildup, relieving joint stiffness, and accelerating recovery after physical activity or injury — making it a popular tool among athletes and active individuals.

“My ND recommended infrared sauna as part of my naturopathic hydrotherapy plan and the results have been impressive. I was sceptical at first but the deep sweat at comfortable temperatures is completely different from a gym sauna. I feel like I’m actually doing something meaningful for my body every session.”

The sauna is private, clean, and genuinely comfortable — not the suffocating experience we expected. We always leave feeling incredible. The Tuesday / Friday deal is unbelievable value.”
