How to Book

The Naturopathic Booking Process

Naturopathic medicine begins with a thorough intake — your first appointment is longer than a conventional visit because your ND needs your complete health picture before making any recommendations.

1

Choose Your ND & Location

Review our practitioners above and select the ND whose clinical focus best aligns with your health concerns. Dr. Stefania Iovine is available at Vaughan only. All other NDs are available at both Vaughan and Woodbridge.

2

Book Your Initial Intake

All new naturopathic patients begin with a 90-minute Initial Intake appointment — in-person or virtual. This is where your ND takes a comprehensive health history covering everything relevant to your health concerns.

3

Lab Testing (if applicable)

Your ND may order advanced lab tests — hormone panels, stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, and more — to confirm their clinical findings and build an accurate picture of your health.

4

Receive Your Treatment Plan

At your second visit or a follow-up, your ND presents a clear, personalized treatment plan including dietary changes, supplementation, lifestyle modifications, and any additional therapies.

5

Ongoing Care & Follow-Ups

Your ND schedules regular follow-ups to review progress, interpret lab results, and adjust your plan over time. Most significant health concerns require 3–6 months of ongoing support.

Is This Right for You?

Is Naturopathic Medicine Right for You?

Naturopathic medicine is for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of their health and a more personalized, root-cause approach to feeling well.

You’ve been told everything is “normal” — but you don’t feel normal

Standard bloodwork often misses subclinical imbalances. Our NDs use advanced testing and a broader clinical lens to find what conventional workups miss.

You want to address the cause — not just manage symptoms

If you’re tired of symptom-by-symptom management and want to understand why your body is reacting the way it is, naturopathic medicine is built for exactly this.

You prefer natural, minimally invasive approaches where possible

Our NDs use natural therapies first and integrate with conventional medicine where appropriate — you never have to choose between natural and evidence-based.

You want a practitioner who has the time to actually listen

Initial ND consultations at NatCan are 90 minutes. Your ND will know your full health history — not just what fits in a 10-minute appointment slot.

FAQ

Common Questions About Naturopathic Medicine in Vaughan & Woodbridge

Is a Naturopathic Doctor the same as a Naturopath?
In Ontario, a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is a regulated health professional licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO). NDs complete a four-year graduate-level naturopathic medical program after an undergraduate degree, and are required to pass licensing board exams before practicing. The title “Naturopath” is used in some other provinces and countries, but in Ontario the regulated title is “Naturopathic Doctor” or “ND.” All NDs at NatCan are fully licensed and in good standing with CONO.
Is naturopathic medicine covered by OHIP or insurance?
Naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health benefit plans in Ontario — including those provided by many employers — include naturopathic coverage, often $300–$1,000 per year. We recommend checking your plan’s extended health benefits before your first appointment. Receipts are always provided for insurance purposes. Call 416-400-6280 for pricing questions.
How long is the first naturopathic appointment?
Your first naturopathic consultation at NatCan is a 90-minute Initial Intake appointment. This extended time is necessary to take a comprehensive health history covering all aspects of your health — current symptoms, medical history, medications, family history, diet, sleep, stress, and lifestyle. Follow-up appointments are typically 45 or 60 minutes.
Can I see a naturopathic doctor alongside my family doctor?
Absolutely — and this is one of the most effective approaches. Naturopathic medicine is designed to complement conventional care, not replace it. Your ND will always be aware of your medications and conventional treatments, and will never recommend anything that conflicts with your existing care. Many of our patients see both their family doctor and their ND, finding that the two approaches together provide more complete support than either alone.
Which ND should I book with?
If you are seeking naturopathic fertility support, we recommend booking with Dr. Sylvia Santos, MBS, ND, who specializes in this area and is available at both Vaughan and Woodbridge. For integrative oncology support, Dr. Amita Sachdev, (RN), ND is our specialist and is also available at both clinics. For all other naturopathic concerns — hormones, gut health, fatigue, mental health, and more — all four NDs accept new patients. Note that Dr. Stefania Iovine is available at our Vaughan clinic only. You can also book a free consultation to be matched with the right provider.
Which clinic locations offer naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is available at both NatCan clinic locations. Dr. Sylvia Santos, Dr. Sabrina Perfetto, and Dr. Amita Sachdev are available at both Vaughan (NatCan Integrative Medical & Wellness Centre) and Woodbridge (NatCan Weight Loss & Skin Clinic). Dr. Stefania Iovine is available at the Vaughan clinic only. Virtual appointments are also available through all four NDs.
Are virtual appointments available?
Yes — all four of our NDs offer virtual naturopathic appointments for both initial intakes and follow-up visits. Virtual appointments are available through our JaneApp booking system and are especially convenient for patients coming from across the GTA. All the same comprehensive care and testing recommendations are available virtually.
What is the free consultation and what does it involve?
The free initial consultation is a shorter introductory appointment where you can meet your ND, share your primary health concerns, and get a sense of how naturopathic medicine can help you — before committing to a full 90-minute Initial Intake. It is a no-pressure conversation designed to help you decide whether naturopathic care at NatCan is the right fit for your needs. Available at both Vaughan and Woodbridge.
