What It Is

Live Blood Analysis — What It Reveals

Unlike standard laboratory blood tests that process and quantify specific markers, Live Blood Analysis looks at your blood as it lives — examining the quality, shape, and behaviour of your blood cells in real time. This gives your analyst a different and complementary picture of what is happening in your body.

  • Immune function and white blood cell activity
  • Free radical damage and oxidative stress
  • Cardiovascular risk markers
  • Nutrient deficiencies and malabsorption
  • Digestive disorders and bowel inflammation
  • Heavy metal toxicity and toxin levels
  • Parasite activity and yeast overgrowth
  • Inflammation — acute or chronic — and its source
  • Lymphatic burden and protein metabolism issues
  • Thyroid and endocrine imbalances
  • Anemia and red blood cell abnormalities

Live Blood Analysis — The Process

A single drop of blood is obtained from your fingertip using a sterile lancet and placed on a microscope slide with a coverslip. It is observed immediately under a darkfield microscope at up to 1000x magnification while the blood is still alive — before any processing or preservation occurs. The entire analysis is displayed on a monitor so you can see your own blood in real time as Maryam explains what she observes.

This allows observation of red and white blood cells, plasma, platelets, and particles such as bacteria, yeast, and crystals — providing a dynamic, real-time window into your cellular health.

Dry Blood Analysis — The Process

Dry Blood Analysis is a complementary method. A blood bead is pressed onto a microscope slide eight times and left to dry for approximately 15 minutes. The pattern that forms as the blood dries undergoes significant changes that can help detect and monitor inflammation, identify its source, and reveal imbalances that would not be apparent in a standard blood panel.

Both Live and Dry Blood Analysis are performed in the same session, giving your analyst a complete picture of your blood quality from two complementary perspectives.

How It Differs from Standard Blood Tests

Standard lab tests measure the quantity of specific blood components. Live Blood Analysis looks at the quality and behaviour of your blood cells — how they are shaped, how they are moving, and what they reveal about oxidative damage, toxin burden, and nutrient status. It is a complementary, not competing, tool that provides information standard tests are not designed to detect.

Why Live Blood Analysis

What Makes Live Blood Analysis Unique

Live Blood Analysis provides insights into your internal health environment that standard bloodwork is not designed to reveal.

🔍
See Your Blood in Real Time

Your blood is observed on a monitor while it is still alive — before any laboratory processing. You can see your own cells moving and watch as Maryam explains exactly what she is observing and what it may mean for your health.

🌿
Catch What Standard Tests Miss

Standard bloodwork measures quantities. Live Blood Analysis looks at quality — revealing oxidative damage, toxin burden, cell abnormalities, and nutrient deficiencies that would not appear on a routine blood panel.

🧠
A Complementary Diagnostic Tool

Live Blood Analysis does not replace standard testing — it complements it. Many clients discover patterns and imbalances through Live Blood Analysis that prompt more targeted conventional testing, accelerating their path to answers.

💧
Inflammation Detection

Dry Blood Analysis is particularly useful for detecting the presence and source of inflammation — whether acute or chronic — providing information that can guide both naturopathic and conventional treatment decisions.

FAQ

Common Questions About Live Blood Analysis

What is Live Blood Analysis and how does it differ from standard blood tests?
Live Blood Analysis involves placing a single drop of blood taken from your fingertip directly onto a microscope slide and observing it immediately under a darkfield microscope at up to 1000x magnification — while the blood is still alive and unprocessed. Standard laboratory blood tests send your blood to a lab where it is processed, preserved, and analyzed for the quantity of specific components like red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and various markers. Live Blood Analysis looks at the quality and behaviour of your blood cells in real time — how they are shaped, how they are moving, and what is visible in the plasma around them. This reveals patterns related to oxidative damage, toxin burden, inflammation, and nutrient status that standard tests are not designed to detect. The two approaches are complementary, not competing.
What is the difference between Live Blood Analysis and Dry Blood Analysis?
Live Blood Analysis observes a fresh, unprocessed drop of blood under a darkfield microscope in real time, revealing the quality and behaviour of blood cells, the presence of particles like bacteria or yeast, and signs of oxidative stress and nutrient deficiency. Dry Blood Analysis is a complementary method where a blood bead is pressed onto a slide eight times and allowed to dry for approximately 15 minutes. The pattern formed by the dried blood is then examined. Dry Blood Analysis is particularly useful for detecting and monitoring inflammation — both acute and chronic — identifying the source of inflammation, and revealing patterns related to heavy metal toxicity, lymphatic burden, and metabolic imbalances. Both are typically performed in the same session for a more complete picture.
Is the procedure painful or invasive?
Live Blood Analysis is minimally invasive. It requires only a single drop of blood obtained from your fingertip using a sterile, single-use lancet — the same method used in standard glucose testing. The procedure takes seconds, causes only a brief, mild discomfort, and requires no preparation or recovery time. Maryam follows strict clinical protocols for sterility and safety at every session.
Do I need a referral to book a Live Blood Analysis session?
No — you do not need a referral from your family doctor or any other practitioner to book a Live Blood Analysis session with Maryam. New patients can book directly online through JaneApp at either the Vaughan or Woodbridge clinic location. Many clients are also referred to Maryam by their NatCan ND as part of a coordinated care plan.
Who performs Live Blood Analysis at NatCan?
Maryam Abbasian is NatCan’s Live Blood Analyst and performs both Live Blood Analysis and Dry Blood Analysis at both clinic locations — NatCan Integrative Medical & Wellness Centre in Vaughan and NatCan Weight Loss & Skin Clinic in Woodbridge. You can book at either location using the booking links on this page.
Can Live Blood Analysis replace my regular bloodwork?
No — Live Blood Analysis is a complementary tool, not a replacement for standard laboratory blood testing. It provides qualitative, real-time insights into your blood quality and reveals patterns that standard tests are not designed to detect. Many clients use Live Blood Analysis alongside their regular bloodwork to get a more complete picture of their health. If Maryam’s analysis suggests specific concerns, she may recommend additional conventional testing to confirm or explore them further.
Is Live Blood Analysis covered by insurance?
Coverage varies depending on your extended health benefit plan. Some plans that include naturopathic, holistic nutrition, or alternative health benefits may cover Live Blood Analysis. We recommend checking with your insurer before your appointment. Receipts are provided for all sessions for insurance submission purposes.
Which locations offer Live Blood Analysis?
