What We Treat

Chiropractic Care for Your Pain & Movement Concerns

Our chiropractor takes a thorough, root-cause approach to musculoskeletal health — addressing the underlying mechanical issue that is causing your pain, rather than simply masking symptoms.

🦾
Back Pain & Spinal Conditions

One of the most common reasons patients seek chiropractic care. Our chiropractor assesses the full spine and addresses the mechanical root cause of your back pain — whether acute, chronic, or postural.

Neck Pain & Headaches

Neck pain, stiffness, and tension headaches are frequently caused by mechanical dysfunction in the cervical spine. Chiropractic care addresses the source — not just the symptom.

Joint Pain & Restricted Movement

Stiff, painful, or restricted joints in the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, or wrist can significantly affect your quality of life. Chiropractic assessment and treatment can restore range of motion and reduce pain.

Nerve-Related Pain & Radiating Symptoms

Shooting, burning, or radiating pain down the arm or leg is often the result of nerve compression or irritation at the spinal level. Chiropractic care can help reduce nerve irritation and restore normal function.

What Is Chiropractic?

A Regulated, Evidence-Based Approach to Musculoskeletal Health

Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession in Ontario that focuses on the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent conditions related to the spine, muscles, joints, and nerves of the body — using a non-invasive, hands-on, and drugless approach.

All chiropractors at NatCan are fully licensed and regulated in Ontario.

01

Non-Invasive & Drug-Free

Chiropractic care does not rely on medication or surgery. Treatments are hands-on, gentle, and designed to work with your body’s natural healing mechanisms.

02

Diagnosis & Root-Cause Assessment

Your chiropractor performs a thorough assessment to understand the underlying mechanical cause of your pain — not just where it hurts, but why.

03

Treatment & Rehabilitation

Spinal and joint adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitative exercises work together to restore function, reduce pain, and improve movement.

04

Prevention & Long-Term Health

Chiropractic care is not just for acute pain. Regular care supports long-term spinal health, posture, and injury prevention — keeping you moving well as you age.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first chiropractic appointment at NatCan begins with a thorough health history and physical assessment. Your chiropractor will ask about your current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and movement patterns before examining the affected areas.

Based on the assessment, your chiropractor will explain their findings, discuss a treatment plan, and — if appropriate — begin treatment in your first visit. You will leave with a clear understanding of what is causing your pain and what the plan is to address it.

Chiropractic Techniques We Use

Spinal Manipulation & Adjustment — Precise, controlled force applied to spinal joints to restore normal motion and reduce pain.

Soft Tissue Therapy — Hands-on treatment of muscles, tendons, and fascia to reduce tension and improve function.

Mobilization — Gentle, low-velocity joint movement to improve range of motion without a high-velocity thrust.

Rehabilitative Exercise — Targeted exercises to strengthen supporting muscles and prevent recurrence.

Postural & Ergonomic Guidance — Practical advice on how to move, sit, and work in ways that protect your spine long-term.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Why Choose Chiropractic at NatCan?

Chiropractic care at NatCan is integrated with our broader team of naturopathic doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and osteopaths — giving you access to a complete, coordinated care plan.

💊
Drug-Free Pain Relief

Chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue therapy can significantly reduce pain without medication — making it an effective option for those who want to manage pain naturally or reduce their reliance on painkillers.

🤼
Improved Movement & Flexibility

Restricted joint mobility is one of the most common complaints our chiropractor treats. Restoring normal joint motion often produces immediate improvements in range of motion that patients notice right away.

🧠
Nervous System Support

The spine houses and protects the spinal cord — a key pathway for your nervous system. Spinal dysfunction can irritate nerves and affect their communication with the rest of your body. Chiropractic care removes this interference.

🏃
Faster Injury Recovery

Whether you’ve been injured at work, in a motor vehicle accident, or during sport, chiropractic care can accelerate recovery by addressing the mechanical dysfunction that often prolongs healing.

Injury Prevention

Regular chiropractic care helps identify and correct biomechanical imbalances before they become injuries — particularly valuable for active individuals, desk workers, and those with physically demanding jobs.

🤝
Integrated with Your Full Care Team

At NatCan, your chiropractor works alongside our NDs, physiotherapists, RMTs, and osteopaths. This means your care is coordinated — everyone on your team knows your history and your goals.

Your First Visit

What to Expect at Your Chiropractic Appointment

Your first chiropractic visit is longer than a follow-up — your chiropractor needs to fully understand your history and the mechanics of your pain before beginning treatment.

Step 01

Health History & Intake

Your chiropractor reviews your current symptoms, medical history, previous injuries, medications, and lifestyle. This informs every aspect of your assessment and treatment.

Step 02

Physical Assessment

A hands-on physical examination of your spine, joints, posture, and movement patterns. Orthopedic and neurological tests may be performed to identify the source of your pain.

Step 03

Diagnosis & Treatment Plan

Your chiropractor explains their findings clearly and outlines a treatment plan tailored to your specific condition, goals, and timeline. You’ll know exactly what is wrong and what the plan is to fix it.

Step 04

Treatment & Follow-Up

Treatment often begins in your first visit. Follow-up appointments are shorter and focused on progressing your care — your chiropractor adjusts your plan based on how you respond.

Is This Right for You?

Who Can Benefit from Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is appropriate for a wide range of people — from those in acute pain to those looking to maintain long-term musculoskeletal health.

You are dealing with back or neck pain that isn’t going away

Whether it started suddenly or has been building for months, chiropractic care is highly effective for both acute and chronic spinal pain — and can often provide relief faster than waiting it out.

You have joint pain, stiffness, or restricted movement

Restricted movement in your shoulder, hip, knee, or spine is a mechanical problem — and mechanical problems respond well to hands-on chiropractic assessment and treatment.

You sit at a desk all day and feel the effects

Prolonged sitting and poor ergonomics are among the most common causes of spinal and postural issues. Your chiropractor can identify imbalances and give you the tools to counteract them.

You are active or athletic and want to stay that way

Chiropractic care helps active individuals perform better, recover faster, and reduce the risk of injury through proper spinal and joint alignment.

You want drug-free, hands-on care as part of an integrative approach

If you prefer a natural, non-invasive approach to pain management, chiropractic care — integrated with the rest of NatCan’s team — gives you a comprehensive, coordinated alternative to medication or surgery.

Integrative Care

Chiropractic as Part of Your Whole-Health Plan

At NatCan, no practitioner works in isolation. Your chiropractor is part of a multi-disciplinary team that can coordinate your care across multiple disciplines — so your treatment addresses the full picture of your health.

Chiropractic care pairs particularly well with:

  • Physiotherapy — Rehabilitation exercises and functional movement retraining alongside chiropractic adjustments for faster recovery
  • Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) — Soft tissue preparation before or after chiropractic treatment for improved results and reduced tension
  • Osteopathy — A complementary hands-on approach addressing the body’s fascial and structural connections
  • Naturopathic Medicine — Addressing the internal contributors to inflammation, joint pain, and poor recovery through nutrition and natural medicine
  • Acupuncture — Supporting pain relief and nervous system regulation alongside chiropractic care

FAQ

Common Questions About Chiropractic Care in Vaughan

Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes — chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession in Ontario and is considered a safe, evidence-based treatment for musculoskeletal conditions when performed by a licensed chiropractor. Before treatment begins, your chiropractor will conduct a thorough assessment to confirm that chiropractic care is appropriate for your specific situation. Any relative contraindications are identified and your treatment is adapted accordingly.
Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Most patients find chiropractic adjustments comfortable or mildly uncomfortable during the treatment, followed by a sense of relief. Some patients experience mild soreness for 24–48 hours after their first few sessions — similar to how muscles feel after a new workout. This typically resolves quickly. Your chiropractor always communicates throughout treatment and adjusts their technique based on your feedback and tolerance.
How many chiropractic sessions will I need?
This depends entirely on your condition, how long you have had it, and how you respond to treatment. Some patients experience significant relief within 1–3 sessions. Others with more complex or long-standing conditions may need a longer course of care. Your chiropractor will give you a realistic treatment plan with a timeline at your first appointment — and will review your progress regularly to make sure you are on track.
Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefit plans in Ontario include chiropractic coverage — typically a set dollar amount per year (often $400–$1,000). We recommend checking your plan before booking. Receipts are provided for all chiropractic services for insurance purposes. Some motor vehicle accident (MVA) and workplace injury (WSIB) claims may also cover chiropractic care — ask our team if this applies to you.
Can I see a chiropractor alongside my family doctor or other NatCan practitioners?
Absolutely — and this is often the most effective approach. Chiropractic care is designed to complement other healthcare, not replace it. At NatCan, our chiropractor works alongside our naturopathic doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and osteopaths as part of a coordinated, integrative care team. Many of our patients see multiple practitioners at NatCan and benefit significantly from the coordinated approach.
Can chiropractic help with headaches?
Yes — particularly for tension-type headaches and cervicogenic headaches (headaches that originate from the neck). These are among the most evidence-supported applications of chiropractic care. If your headaches are associated with neck pain, stiffness, or seem to start at the base of the skull, there is a good chance chiropractic treatment can help. Your chiropractor will assess the type and likely source of your headaches before recommending a treatment approach.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No — in Ontario, chiropractors are primary care providers and you do not need a referral from your family doctor to book an appointment. You can book directly through our JaneApp online scheduling system or by calling our clinic at 905-850-5551.
